Dizzaay

Part of the conversation that followed on Facebook:

I seriously cannot stop laughing.  That little boy is the most hilarious thing I have seen recently.

Good News:  We had the most girls show up on a Wednesday night since I have been in YW!  There were 8!  I was so happy, but a little worried because as soon as Jenny picked me up she told me she had no idea how to make the bracelets (our activity) so I sat in the passenger seat watching Youtube videos to try and figure it out.  Luckily, one of the girls (a Beehive) was able to take the reigns and teach us all.  I think I have carpal tunnel in my fingers now though...haha.
I think they turned out pretty decent.   And don't mind me in my gym clothes...I went to the gym before I went to YW.  I made the green one. A friend of one of the girl's showed up today and made the really cool blue one.   I took an interest in her and had her teach me how to make it her way and such.  When we were all leaving I asked to see the finished product and she wanted to "gift" it to me.  I felt bad taking it, but she really wanted me to have it.

On the way home Jenny said I have a real gift for talking to people and showing them genuine interest.  I thought that was really sweet. Then tonight when I was telling my mom about it she told me, "They may not remember what you say but they'll remember how you make them feel."

36

I am officially a Texan as of 6:00 pm today!   I had to wait for 1.5 hours at the DMV, but I won't have to go back in person for 12 years!  That means I will be 36 by the time I "technically" have to get a new license picture (unless of course we move after law school).   There will be so much change in the next 12 years that makes the age 36 kind of crazy to think about!  Hopefully I won't have lots of wrinkles (I am using sunscreen and anti-wrinkle cream to combat that haha).  Here is my new license picture:

The DMV counter guy told me I took one of the better pictures he'd seen today.  I must have practiced my smile sufficiently... =)

Memorial Day

It has been a lovely Memorial Day.  I slept in late (like until almost 11), cleaned the house, and put together a picture frame with a wedding picture of Seth and I to put on my desk at work.  Then when 2:45 rolled around we headed to Grand Prairie to visit with our friends.  We went swimming, had a BBQ, and chatted until 8.  There were quite a few people at the neighborhood pool, but we were still all able to play a game of Monkey in the Middle.  I was wearing my purple swimsuit that is like a tube top kind of thing (not a bikini).  It became a pretty intense game, and I ended up jumping for the ball which pulled down my swimsuit.  Luckily Seth was right in front of me and I could quickly pull it up otherwise it would have been much more embarrassing.  I definitely won't make the mistake of wearing a strapless suit to play water games in again!
Seth grilling.  His friend, Angel, was helping so there was a beer next to the plate, but we moved it for the picture so people wouldn't think we've picked up drinking.  ;)
The picture frame.
I added the red mat (construction paper) because the pictures from the photographer are a random size that picture frames don't normally fit.
We are grateful for the men and women who have made it possible for us to be free and enjoy days like today!

Fri.Sat.Sun.

The days keep slipping by with out little Rasmussen updates, but I do have pictures to share to make up for it.  So far we have had a fabulous 3-day weekend (and we haven't even got to the third day yet).  I think just knowing that we don't have anywhere to be that is work or school related tomorrow makes this Sunday extra relaxing.  Maybe we'll even stay up until midnight tonight since we know we can sleep in!

Friday:  We spent the evening visiting with our friends that live a couple buildings over (Matt and Leslie...oh that is funny...I seriously just realized as I typed that that I have a Matt and Leslie in Utah too, but this is obviously a different couple).  Matt does animation stuff and showed us how to do some things on his computer.  I can definitely see why it take a few years to make some of those animated films because it can be a tedious process.

I got this new shirt from Kelsey and I love it!  I felt pretty hot wearing it Friday because I kept getting compliments on it at work.

Saturday:
We drove up to Allen to eat crepes with Seth's parents  in celebration of his birthday.  They make crepes for  each family member's birthday, and I think it is a delicious tradition that we will have to carry on when we have kids too.
We went on a walk and saw this super cool duck with a mohawk.
I finally got to see where Seth works in person.  We have matching large desks!
We sat in traffic for an extra 25 minutes because the traffic lights were crazy trying to get to 6 Flags.
Texas Giant is still our favorite ride.  I am so glad they redid it last year!
Sunday:  I had the fun of running around like a mad women in the church library during 2nd hour when I found out that something came up and I would need to be teaching the third hour lesson.  I was surprised that I was able to pull something together in such short notice that actually turned out decent.  I think that means my teaching degree has paid off (it also helped that I found a 28 minute video on Finding Faith in Christ to share too).  I do like teaching though so it didn't bother me one bit!
Lesson materials-I handed out pass-along cards and am keeping some for myself in my purse.  I'd be more than happy to give you one too!
Shockingly, it was a non-matching Sunday!
Playing games in our lounge clothes this afternoon.
Now it is time for me to go a romantic little walk around the ponds with my husby!

Busy.

I need to find another word to use besides busy because I feel like that is the only word I say on here to describe my life.  It's true though.  I am so busy it is crazy!   I decided to treat myself to lunch outside of the office today and went to Boston Market.  I got the mac and cheese with turkey and mashed potatoes.  It reminded me of living in California and going with my family.   BM makes the best mac and cheese and I would always beg to get it when we went there (I usually got it too).

Anyways, I tried to do a bit of decorating for Kelsey's birthday today, but basically just hung up a sign and a card with her gift (blue shoes).  We don't have as many decorations as I thought so that needs to be something I need to start collecting more of in the near future.  I am so happy my sister was born 22 years ago!   We got to celebrate by going to Applebee's, shoe shopping (but not buying so it was more shoe-looking), and eating the yummy chocolate cake she made!

That is about all I have for today because I got to spend time with my hubby now!

Tutu Birthday

Kelsey's big "tutu" birthday is tomorrow (Thursday)!   I am excited that we get to celebrate together!  We plan on eating lots of tasty cake made by the birthday girl herself!
I am so glad she is my sister!  She is very talented (she composes difficult piano pieces), smart (5 year program in 4 + top of her class), creative (her stories are so imagintive) and funny (AHHWWWW)!  I couldn't ask for a better person to be my sister. I'm glad I only have one sister because, I don't think anyone could compare to how awesome she is!  I am glad I can always count on her, and that she is has been keeping me company the past few weeks!   Happy Birthday SissyLynn!

Floss Conqueror

My sister sent me the cartoon above (she got it from Ross).  I think it basically sums up my relationship with floss.  I am obsessed with floss.  And if you know me at all you can attest to that.  Sometimes I will floss twice in a row, and I'll always floss every time after I eat!

Anyways,  today was another busy day and I loved it!  I love having deadlines and projects to stay on top of-it almost reminds me of being back in school.  ;)  I am still trying to figure out the best way to organize all my paperwork and things to do daily. So far I have lots of file folders and sticky notes!
While Seth was at school, Kelsey and I used her free birthday Grimaldi's coupon.  We decided to try something new and put meatballs on our pizza.  We even splurged on sodas (since the pizza was free).  I think it was the best pizza we have had from there so that is what I now what I plan to order every time!

Kelsey and I at Grimaldi's.  She has such blue eyes!
They were more like sliced meatballs.

They has spearmint candies at Grimaldi's that reminded us of sneaking into our dad's briefcase when we were younger to get his spearmint gum, Lifesavers, and TicTacs.
Tonight I secretly took pics of Seth at the gym.  That guy is sexy!
